Keeping In Touch

vintage-mail-009Last night, for some reason I decided to check my email on Yahoo and even though I regularly check my Inbox, I was surprised to find out that I already have 39,000+ messages stored in my account. I created my first Yahoo Mail way back in 2007. I also have no idea that even the conversations I had with my relative with Yahoo Messenger are being stored too so i decided to check those old emails I had and I was able to unearth pictures that were sent too me long long time ago.

One of the main reasons why I created an email is because my Uncle asked me to. I had to create one because we need to keep in touch with each other. My dad is half American and most of his relatives including my late Grandpa were all based on US (Oklahoma to be specific). Email is the most convenient way for us to communicate because it is free. Handwritten mails usually arrive more than a week while Direct calls will cost us a lot of money. Since I am the only one who knows how to operate a computer that time, I am one who communicate with them. I was able to keep in touch with them especially with my Grandpa Ralph (my late grandpa’s brother). He used to send us pictures of our distant cousins and uncles. He even sent me a huge file compiling all the Coyne family (they were eleven so that’s a pretty huge family).Carl 2 2 25 07Here’s one picture showing my Uncle Carl and his kids while having fun on snow! How I wish I will get an opportunity to visit them and play with my nephews (just kidding I just want to experience playing with the snow LOL). Just look at their clothes, you can clearly tell how freaking cold the weather there. I don’t even think I can bear it unless I got those furry coats that I found in some Cozy Winters Reviews I saw on Twitter the other day.  Honestly, we never got the chance to meet any of them personally except my dad who went there many years ago.snowman coyneHere’s another picture sent to me by my grandpa. According to him, he is my Uncle Edward! How come he’s wearing a boxer short out of that breezy cold weather??? Our communications are not as active as before (maybe because we both got busy in our own works) but we are still keeping in touch not through emails but through Facebook which is way more convenient! Since my grandpa Ralph is not that active in Facebook, I am more in touched with my Uncle Jesse who gave me updates about them.

How about you, how do you keep in touch with your relatives abroad? Do you still send handwritten mails or cards? Do you use Skype or Facebook

Sad to say I don’t write physically anymore. Electronic mails have taken over. I keep in touch with my aunt and relative abroad through Whatsapp and FaceTime. No writing letters that takes ages to reach them.

Actually I agree with you. I miss getting letters. My grandma used to send me a letter once every week. It would be so wonderful somebody sent me a letter or postcard
