Malunggay And Tahong Chips By Ocean Fresh
Located near the garden of Aguinaldo Shrine is a small shop for souvenirs! Mr Valer Velez (hope I got his name correctly) was the person in charged that time and he warmly welcome us in his small souvenir shop. We got the opportunity to talk to him and to tell us something about the shrine. He’s really approachable!
The souvenir shop showcases different handicrafts and some foods to eat since it has a small canteen inside. This includes the Cavite’s well known Tahong chips and Malunggay chips by Ocean Fresh.

Souvenir mugs
Attached on the wall is a sheet of the old five peso bills which features Gen Emilion Aguinaldo on the front and the Declaration of Philippine independence on the back side (that features the iconic independence balcony). This banknote however was circulated until the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas stopped printing this denomination in 1995 and was replaced by coins.
On the other side of the shop lies the chips and other snacks. We decided to buy the famous Tahong Chips and Malunggay chips. Well, Cavite is known as one of the best place to buy Tahong (mussels) so it is not really surprising that someone came up with such product. Ocean Fresh is a company which processes sea based products and also their well known Veggie chips which has been featured in numerous tv shows. Aside from their Malunggay chips, they also offer Ampalaya, Kalabasa, Carrots, Saluyot, Onion, Ginger, Garlic, Banaba, Sambong and Lagundi Chips. There are no added preservatives. This can be dipped with vinegar for better tasting.
hmmm, haven’t tried those chips from aguinaldo shrine. tried malunggay chips from the mall, didn’t like it that much. i’d rather have malunggay as veggie hehe. 😉

Oh wow tahong chips and malunggay chips are two products that are not usually found in the leading supermarkets. I want to try them for snacks. The tastes must be interesting! 🙂
There are a lot of historical artifacts and souvenir items here. The Malunggay and Tahong chips would be healthier than regular chips.

Tahong chips are mussels chips? what are Malunggay chips made from? We don’t have them here.
I wonder how tahong chips taste like. The malunggay chips got me curious too. I guess they are healthier alternatives to the usual junk food we eat.
Yay! I didn’t even know that these chips exist! It”s for sure healthy than the regular ones.
