The Feast Of The Black Nazarene In Cavite City 2016
The feast of the Four-century old image of Black Nazarene that is enshrined in Quiapo Church in Manila is traditionally celebrated every 9th of January. The procession or better known as the Translacion is the largest procession in the Philippines as it gathers millions of devotees from different parts of the country. The photo above features not the original image but a replica that is enshrined in Iglesia Filipina Indipendiente Church (an Aglipayan Church in Caridad Cavite City).Unlike the traditional day of celebration, the feast day of Cavite City Aglipayan’s Nazareno is celebrated every third Sunday of January. Local devotees of Poong Nazareno (mostly addressed as Lolo) were gathered in this very special day to showcase their ultimate devotion to the miraculous image of Jesus. The event started off with a high mass followed by a motorcade. The image of the Black Nazarene will be paraded and will pass through different streets of Cavite City!
The motorcade will end on a spot few kilometers away from the Aglipay Church to pave way for their traditional procession where the image of Lolo will be mounted on top of his Andas which is being pulled by two large ropes much like how the traditional Translacion is being done. It was not that overwhelming crowded like in Quiapo though. The starting point. A solemn prayer was offered before the formation begins! It was almost 2 pm and it was extremely hot and so as the road. Some devotees do not mind walking in barefoot despite of the heat.Devotees pulling the Andas through two large ropesMy mom, my cousin and I It was physically tiring yet spiritually rewarding
hmmm looks like there are lots of celebration around huh?? you must have been very busy going here she there to witness and join the events.. impressive 400 year-old image, it looks just so brand new, really unbelievably well kept..
and the devotees walked barefooted on the road on a hot day, that must be like walking on frying pans.. over here, there’s an event where devotees walked barefooted on burning charcoals!! but they do not feel the pain as they were protected by the deities in their heart and mind..
Reading your posts show that you are truly devoted to your faith and I salute you. I still need to learn a lot about Filipino traditions and religious beliefs as I am lost with all its differences.
You looked so different. You look cute like Naruto!
