Interesting find. To be honest, I am quite surprised we have local artists selling comic books. I had thought the industry died a long time ago, which is a pity because Filipinos are known to be creative… it’s just that our local market is not supportive of the locals. “Anything imported from US must be good” mentality… colonial mentality.

Having said the above, I wouldn’t mind being contacted by the local artists to see the story and lessons I could learn from them and share on my blog.

Wow 100 lang?! My partner told me a story before, during his childhood he had a huge collection of comics from DC, Marvel, tagalog, etc. Then he went to Manila to work and he found out that his mom would use his comics as panggatong na pangluto. He was devastated. Maybe next time we can attend the next Comicon event.

I am overwhelmed with this ComiCon. How much more for the huge fans of this industry? All are with touch classic and reminds me the beauty of childhood. I will definitely not missed the Pedro Penduko section.

Loved to read this. I’ve been to quite some comic cons in Europe. And I love to read about this one and compare :). I see that there were some great artists and comics. I love the photos of the cosplayers. My favorites are Obi Wan and the Walker!

Oh Filipino comic books! Love the concept. I think we should promote our local comics (a lot) because we really have great talents in the country 🙂

    Great post!

Wow. This is a gathering of the famous and the magagalings. i am not
Into comics reading and collection but I appreciate comic type of readings than novels as they are easy to understand and finish given the drawings. Love to see also those into cosplay. They really are very passionate of this craft.

I’ve never been to any Comicons here in the Philippines but I’m always amused when I see attendees in anime costumes. You can see just how they love what they are doing. Looking at the photos and the write-ups , you’d see that there really are a great bunch of Filipino artists that needs exposure. Hopefully, this comicons will give them a big opportunity and more filipinos will patronize their work.

I’m not a comics fan or collector. But I have friends who are. I also have friends who attend these conferences. I’m glad that the local industry for comics is still alive.
