Inflatable Island In Subic : The Biggest Floating Playground In Asia

IMG_0156ttZambales is known for many great beaches and coves. Anawangin, Nagsasa, Talisayen and Silaguin just to name a few but there’s a recent craze in Olongapo that is starting to gain a lot of attention not because of the pristine water nor the powdery sand that most beach lovers are looking for but because of its unique attraction that will give you a valid reason to act like a child again! The Inflatable Island is one of the latest tourist destinations in Subic and is dubbed as the biggest floating playground not just in the country but in Asia! Expanding at 3,400 sqm in size, Inflatable Island is as huge as 8 basketball courts if you put them together side by side.

20170423_064634tThe first time I saw this attraction in TV and after seeing being featured in many blogs, I got very eager to find ways on how to get here and I was lucky enough to find O’La Malaya Adventures through a travel group hosting a one-time event to Inflatable Island in Subic. I immediately grabbed that opportunity and I’m glad that I became part of their team as we all had a great blast! It was just few hours drive from Manila to Subic.

We took the 2-hour Pass and as what it connotes, we will be given two sharp hours of playtime in the Inflatable Island and that was actually good enough to try and explore all the activities and courses in the floating playground. As soon as we entered their main facility, we are warmly welcomed by their colorful Bali-inspired lounge. The Bali Lounge is actually one of their interesting attractions next to their huge floating playground which is located just few meters away from the shore.
20170423_074346tThe huge inflatable playground is floating on top of the sea with depth level ranging from 4ft to 20ft and even though everyone is provided with a high quality life vest, precautionary measures should still be applied. Before entering the playground, a brief orientation will be held to educate the visitors of the rules that should be strictly applied when entering the Inflatable Island. Here are some of the things I learned during the Orientation
►Wear proper swimming clothes. Shorts and shirts with buttons, zippers and any sharp objects will not be allowed in the playground (rush guards, swimsuits and board shorts are highly recommended)
►Earrings, bracelets, watches and any related accessories will not be allowed either. You can rent a locker space for Php50-Php100 to store your things though
►Do not attempt to swim under the inflatables (there will be an overwhelming amount of life guards in almost every playing station but you still have to be extra careful)
►You are allowed to bring phones, action cam, selfiesticks, monopods and digicams on the playground but they strongly encouraged you to bring floaters and waterproof because the Inflatable Island will not be liable for the lost or damages for your gears.

Take note that you cannot just enter the playground immediately. The playground can only accommodate a specific number of visitors at a time so visitors are being grouped (depends on the time of their arrival). Therefore, you have to wait for your batch before entering the floating playground. Interestingly, you can spend your time waiting on their Bali-inspired lounge. I haven’t been to Bali so I cannot really compare but what you can see here are bunch of colorful umbrellas and cute and colorful bean bags.

My apology for that very serious face but this one was a candid shot haha (credit to Ms Yohan Revilla Ola). It was also not my attention to match my clothes with the bean bags around me haha. Anyway, I would like to note that there is a “First come first serve” policy in their Bali Lounge but in case all were occupied, they still got many umbrellas and tables nearby the lounge.

IMG_0150tExtra Umbrellas outside the lounge. You can also spot a stage nearby (possibly for concerts or entertainments and other special events). Food stalls can also be spotted nearby the lounge! The food are not really that pricey but in case you want to bring your own, take note that they have a Corkage Fee of Php500 for 1-7 pax
IMG_0228t20170423_065701tTables and chairs that you can actually use for free. Clinic Station can also be spotted nearby

The Floating Playground!

This is the area where you can claim your life vest. Life vests were distributed for FREE and they are all high in quality. The crew can assist you in wearing them.

Just in case that the 2 Hour Pass is not enough for you, the Samba Beach is actually open for all visitors for free! (except for the cottages though)

To give you an idea how huge this floating playground is, here’s a map showing all the obstacles.

IMG_0193t I was actually expecting for a floating zoo but we only spotted 4 or five animal lifebuoys in the area

IMG_0189tThe entrance to the playground! This is where the fun begins! The idea of that 20ft deep water freaks me out but I was confident with my vest so I was not that worried at all.

I am not sure if the provider of this Inflatables are the same people behind the Inflatable playground in Club Balai Isabel in Batangas.
20170423_082552tThe playground could be very shaky and you really have to balance yourself, otherwise, you will fall. Don’t worry, lifeguards are there to lift you up!

20170423_083141t
20170423_083106tOne of the most challenging obstacles in Inflatable Island is the Rock Climbing. Climbing up is not just the challenge here but you also have enough courage to jump off from the top!
IMG_0200tOf course, I was able to do so….. I literally forced myself to jump as the guy behind me is already making faces haha

20170423_085052tHere’s how the Human launcher works. Someone should swim through the tip of the launcher and someone should also climb the Sunny slide and jump to the other end of the launcher

The Happy Swing

The two hour pass is actually good enough to explore the entire playground. The Giant Tarzan swing is one of their main attraction (you can spot them all in my video blog below). One thing I really appreciate here is the fact that this place will sure bring out your inner childhood. It will definitely give you a valid reason to act like you are a child again. It is a perfect way to unwind and help you forget your problems even just in few hours. It might be very tiring to surpass all those obstacles but every second you spend in this playground is truly worth it. The fun that the obstacles bring and the bonding you can build with your friends cannot be measured by any amount. Spending Php700 for two hours can be very pricey for many (believe me I am a frugal guy and I will have second thoughts of doing such) but the memories and the experience you can earn from here is just priceless!

We really had a blast and just when we thought that the fun is over, our tour organizers in Ola Malaya Adventure decided to take us to another interesting place. We had a quick side trip to Norzagaray, Bulacan. It is a small yet lesser known resort yet it has a very huge potential of becoming the next big attraction in Bulacan! I will post more about this awesome side trip in my next entry.

It is a shame I will probably never get to see this for myself. This looks like so much fun! It is so cool that they have this inflatable island. There should be some here in states if there aren’t any already!

I was intrigued by the inflatable island… but, arhg, your slow Facebook layer over got me twice. Do people like it? The photographs in the post made it all worth it, though. Wow! Those colours!

I can’t believe how cool this is! I sure wish I lived closer so I could go with my grandchildren. We’d love to go rock climbing on the mountain, climb on the jungle bars, and jump on the trampoline!

What an amazing attraction! I had never heard of something like this before reading your post. It really does look like so much fun…a place where the child inside you can just go nuts! I also loved the video you did as this seems to capture much of the atmosphere. Would love to be able to visit this one day.

We lived in Subic until around June or July of last year, but this opened a little after we left. Really wanted to read your post because I got super curious when friends were telling me about this. It’s along kalaklan lang pala! That’s a hop and skip away from the freeport, where we lived. Anyway looks like a lot of fun!!! I love their lounge area also, looks festive! 🙂 hope i get to go when we visit subic again. 🙂

We have floating pools in Madeira where my family are from but a floating playground is on another level of ‘freaking cool’! I really love all the inflatables and it is great that they allocate time so everyone gets a turn! x

We’re actually planning to visit once we’re back in Metro Manila. The Bali Lounge is so colorful and fun. Though I would hope that it won’t be too crowded when we visit.

This is definitely a very cool idea.
