We only have a week left before the Holy Week begins. If you are planning to conduct a Visita Iglesia, a traditional religious activity done by Filipinos every Lenten season (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in particular) where they will attempt to visit seven different churches and recite the Station of the Cross with them. Some will even attempt to visit fourteen churches to symbolize all the fourteen stations. Considering that the majority of religion in the Philippines is Roman Catholic, the country has so many churches to offer and Batangas alone has an overwhelming amount of old and new churches to offer! Listed below are some of the churches in Batangas that you can visit this Holy Week.

Tomas Batangas) It was recently declared as a Shrine last year and what really makes this site so fascinating are the numerous miracles associated to the patron saint. This place has an interesting atmosphere. The dome-like shrine offers a serene and nature friendly set up as it is made from wood, stone, bamboo and sasa (bamboo plant). It features a separate bell and the miraculous Chapel of the Living Water underneath. Claypots filled with Holy Water can be found in every corner of the chapel allowing the devotees to get as many water as they want. You can also found life sized Station of the Cross in this site.St. John3. St John Evangelist Parish – Tanauan Batangas (image Source)SAM_58774. Hi! I am a native of batangas, and with the churches that you posted here, most I have already visited. Thanks to your list, there are a few new churches that I can suggest to my parents that they try to visit this holy week. 🙂 I really am in love with the Taal Basilica and of course, the San Sebastian Cathedral holds a special place in my heart as it is where I got hitched. 🙂
