Secret Base Lounge And Board Game Cafe ~ A Geeks’ Haven

If you are into video games or other geeky stuffs, then you might enjoy this cool hang out place that we discovered in Marikina few weeks ago. Secret Base Lounge and Board game Cafe is absolutely a geeks haven! We traveled all the way from Cavite just to reach this place. The traffic, however, is really terrible and very exhausting! Located along the Panorama Street, Concepcion Dos in Marikina City, Secret Base Lounge and Board Game Cafe will welcome their visitors with their unique “geeky” atmosphere.

The Place

The place is located on the top most floor of a commercial building. The colorful ambiance will greet you as you enter their hub. The place is divided in different rooms or areas. If you want a normal dining area, they got rustic table and chairs for you but if you want a homey-feeling, you can take their long coffee tables surrounded by colorful bean bags. They also have cribs for small groups. On top of that, they can also offer space on their gaming area for foods.

The walls are adorned with colorful details inspired from various games, anime, movies and other pop culture references.

Well, while waiting for your turn, you can actually play any of their available board games. They offer an overwhelming amount of board games and other table top games to choose from. These include the popular Cards Against Humanity, Penguin Trap, Jenga and a whole lot more.
20171210_174532tYou can also spend the rest of the time marveling their awesome toy collections. Here’s a huge scaled model of Hulkbuster!

The Food

Their menu is equally catchy. All their dishes are named after different game and anime characters. They got this cool Dynamic Duo menu, a 500 Peso worth meal which is good for two servings, hence the name.

The servings are generous and their sumptuous and overly decorated “freak shakes”  are probably the best part of their menu. The shakes are interestingly named after various marvel characters. (From Left to Right : Strawberry Stark [Php150] , Fantastic S’mores [Php160], Captain’s Chocolate [Php150], Salted Caramel Smash [Php150]

I wish we had cafes like that in the UK! I love retro games like Mario so I think that it is cool that you can play retro games while you eat. Plus as a part time mermaid and a unicorn at weekends the unicorn cafe looks epic to me!
