They said that traveling is the healthiest addiction of all and I couldn’t agree more! We are all seeking for that one remarkable adventure in our life, embracing the beauty and wonders that this world has to offer. Traveling is our way to witness the incredible masterpiece that God has created. So while you are still young, you better start creating your own travel bucket list and let your adventurous spirit take you there!

I personally have my own travel bucket list and I promised myself to do everything I could to make this journey possible. Few of the places on my list that I would like to visit someday includes the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, the Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, the amazing country of New Zealand and the Safari in Africa. Well, first of all, i am not referring to that Instagram-Worthy themed resort we recently visited that features various replica of famous world attractions.

If you are really looking for a memorable journey of a life time and an adventure you can never forget, you might want to consider Iceland on top of your travel list! This island country is not just associated with their rich Viking history but also known for some of the world’s most unique destinations. Listed below are some great reasons why you should definitely include Iceland on your bucket list!

The Blue Ice Cave

Embark yourself in a one of a kind spelunking experience as you explore this crystal ice cave in Iceland. A huge percentage of the country is covered with glaciers and most of it belongs to Vatnajökull, one of the largest and most voluminous ice caps in the world. Interestingly most of the Icelandic ice caps is located on top of active volcanoes, the volcanic activity melts down the ice on top of them and forms glacier river. Natural ice caves are eventually formed! Exploring these scenic caves may not be an easy adventure for everyone as it requires hiking and passing through challenging terrain but absolutely worth an experience!

Have you ever imagine how it feels like being within a volcano? Interestingly, Iceland is a country filled with both Ice and fire! In fact, almost half of Iceland’s land area consists of mountainous lava dessert!  If you are aiming for an epic journey in Iceland, make sure to include a volcano tour in your itinerary. The Þríhnúkagígur magma chamber in particular allows you to witness a natural phenomenon! Tourists can witness the chamber within a dormant volcano and marvel its fascinating beauty. It’s like a journey towards the center of the earth, an adventure you cannot experience anywhere else!

The Golden Circle

A trip to Iceland will not be completed without a visit to the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in Southern Iceland which covers some of the country’s famous natural wonders. This includes the Great Geysir, the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall, the Kerið volcanic crater, the historic Thingvellir National park and more. Tourists can utilize their trip by availing a package tour or better yet organize your own road trip by renting a car. The number of car rentals in Iceland is pretty overwhelming and you just have to pick the right car that matches your needs (budget, capacity and more). Other points of interest within the Golden Circle includes the Skálholt Cathedral and the Secret Lagoon (the oldest swimming pool in Iceland)

The Majestic Blue Lagoon

Another epic reason to visit Iceland is to experience the majestic Blue Lagoon! Possibly one of the most popular tourist destination in the country. This natural wonder spa is rich in minerals like sulfur and silica and it is believed that bathing in this blue lagoon can help cure various skin diseases. With its healing properties and serene atmosphere, it is not a surprise why many people are visiting this place! Bathing here must be an awesome experience indeed!

The Black Fall

Nope! This is not the Wakanda! Iceland is definitely a land of many wonders! Apart from its glaciers and volcanoes, you can also spot amazing rock formations and a unique waterfall like the Svartifoss or more popularly known as the Black Fall! What really makes the Black Fall a stand out are those amazing column-like basalt walls. The Black fall and its unique formation was the inspiration behind some of the country’s notable landmarks including the Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral in Reykjavík.

The Diamond Beach

If you’re a beach bum and looking for an extremely unique beach, then you might consider dropping by at the famous Diamond beach located in Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. The black sand beach is complimented with chunks of ice bergs washed out on its shore. This resulted in such an amazing contrast providing this beach a picture-worthy atmosphere! This may not be an ideal spot for sun bathing but absolutely worth a visit!

And how could we not miss? Nothing can ever complete your Iceland tour than witnessing this bizarre yet amazing natural phenomenon! Witnessing the Aurora Borealis is definitely on top of every traveler’s bucket list. This natural light display on Earth Sky can only be seen in High latitude regions like Iceland. The sky will be illuminated with various colors, an incredible experience that will put you in great awe!

Iceland is indeed a land of many wonders from humongous ice glaciers to magnificent volcanoes and rock formation. Like what Saint Augustine said “The world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page.” So why not start filling up your travel bucket list, turn another page of your life and set yourself to another great journey to remember!
