Halaan or Clam Soup
I’m sure you guys have tried “Halaan”. It’s our main dish for today and Mom even matched it with fried Tilapia. Halaan or Clam Soup is quite easy to prepare. Just buy clams (1/2 kilo would be enough), bunch of Malunggay Leaves (others used Sili Leaves), ginger, garlic, onion, and fermented fish oil. Saute the garlic, ginger and onion until fragrant. Pour in the boiling water. Add the clams. The clams should open within two minutes after the water starts boiling again. Boil for another 30-45 seconds then turn off the heat. Place the malunggay leaves on top and cover 5 to 10 minutes before serving. The procedures are almost the same with Chicken or Pork Tinola. Okay, Clam Soup Anyone?
