Witnessing The Beauty of The Biggest Supermoon
It is a rainy morning today but we are lucky enough that the weather is seemingly cooperating with us last night and we were able to witness the biggest and the brightest supermoon that has ever existed since 1948. It is a rare phenomenon indeed and I understand why everyone is so crazy about it. Even I, can’t hide my excitement to witness the stunning beauty of the supermoon.
According to PAGASA ,the moon will pass by the earth at a distance of 356,621.611 kilometers which is considered the closest distance of moon from the earth which happened 68 years ago.
The Supermoon graced the Philippine night sky at 7:21 PM (November 14, 2016). It is also very interesting to note that the moon will not be as huge and as close as this until 2034 so I was lucky enough to capture this extremely rare event. These photos could have been more scenic if I am on a place not surrounded by artificial light. It was really an amazing experience to witness them moon in such close distance and I actually wouldn’t mind staring at it the whole night just to embrace its beauty.
Feel free to watch my short video of the Supermoon below
You are lucky you were able to witness the appearance of the supermoon. I was really hoping to see it and I even reminded my parents and my sister to watch it but lo and behold I got so engrossed preparing dinner that I missed 7:21PM. Hopefully, I would still be alive in 2034 to witness the next supermoon in my lifetime. Thank you for sharing the video!
My family and I were excited to see the supermoon however we were actually disappointed since it rained here in Bacolod and no moon was in sight.
We are guessing that the clouds covered it or possibly it was so close to the earth that its no longer visible since it lacks the altitude. Anyway, I am still hopeful to see it during the next supermoon opportunity.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos.
I’ve seen a lot of pictures of the Supermoon! It is indeed beautiful and rare like a precious gem. Unfortunately I was in transit when it appeared, from Taft to QC and my bus even got on an accident haha. So, the pictures will have to do for now.
Wow, the supermoon is absolutely stunning! This was the first time a stopped to really look at it- It’s glowing! Thanks for sharing such great photos in your post.
Wow! Up close and personal. Your photos are really impressive. I guess you’re a very good photographer. I happen to get some photos of the moon here in my province at around 6:25 and plan to capture it again but when I went outside at past 7:00 p.m. , clouds hid the beauty of the moon…and then it rained.
The supermoon is really impressive! I live in the Netherlands and I could barely see it. It was rainy and cloudy unfortunately.
I’m that you were able to see the supermoon very well! Your photos and video are great. Hopefully I’ll be able to see the next supermoon. (But that will take quite some years!)
The moon is so mystical and captivating. I have a different feel every full moon, it’s as if I’m turning into a vampire! Hahaha! I kid. But even if it’s the supermoon, some were still not able to see it. I hope I will still be alive for the next one!

Wow, that was a moon !!! You should have been here on the Canary Islands, we had a clear sky and I have never seen the moon ‘smiling’ that bright and beautiful down on us. A few hours before we had a very little rain and I was lucky to capture the most gorgeous rainbow on my mobile , when I walked my doggy later on and noticed that I forgot to take my mobile with me , I was so upset because the moon was just amazing !!! You were smarter than me π brilliant images !
Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t able to see it because I was on a meeting. But regardless, I don’t feel I lost something really big. I always appreciate the moon and enjoy looking at it when it’s Full. Luckily, I am surrounded by photographer friends who took the effort to shoot the moon so my newsfeed was filled with beautiful photos of it.
Wow, lucky you! I only saw it briefly when I was in the car riding along McKinley in BGC, and it appeared to be touching the tops of the buildings in the distance. I wish I had the proper location to see it better, but hopefully my grandkids will enjoy a better view!!
It was quite cloudy here unfortunately. Specially disheartening since the full moon usually shines through a window over my kids’ bed. For some insane and coincidental reason the moon rises and take a path right in front of that window. Since we couldn’t see the supermoon because of the weather, we bought a “moon torch”, a nifty little flashlight with a moon printed on mica that sits in front of the led bulb and the glass of the flashlight is rouded. We can shine a full moon any time. π
Nice photos Milton! What camera did you used?
I was at Luneta that time but it’s kinda disappointing because it’s too cloudy. But I still managed to take decent shots from my cell phone.
