Preparing For the Live Via Crucis
Holy Week is such a busy week for our Legion because we had to participate in some major events held by our Church and other mandated organizations. The Via Crucis (Latin term of Way of the Cross or Stations of the Cross) is being held Live every year in Cavite City since 1974. This year marks its 40th anniversary and the Church decided to make it even more special compare to the previous years. The so-called Live Via Crucis is traditionally done every Holy Tuesday where every Stations of the Cross is situated in different parts of Cavite City. Participants (actors) usually wore costumes to portray their respective roles more effectively.
Legion of Mary (a mandated organization of Catholic Church), on the other hand, were assigned to “food distribution” and feeding of all the participants. This is my very first time to be a part of this event. A week prior to the said event, the Legion started planning the kind of foods that we are about to distribute and the stations where we are going to be assigned. A day prior to the event (Holy Monday), our group started packing water bags and place them in coolers. As far as I can remember , we managed to pack 200 plastic bags that night. This amount excludes those water bottles given by other sponsors.
I also grabbed that opportunity to take a peak to some of the props that will be used for tomorrow’s big event.
