A Trip To Baguio : Wright Park and The Mansion

A1111111111After the Panagbenga Festival, we headed to one of the most popular spots in Baguio, the Wright Park. As far as our original itinerary is concerned, we are supposed to visit the Burnham Park and the Camp John Hay first and also have a quick snack at 50’s Diner but none of them was followed but according to our Tour guide, they just want to make our tour more realistic and less stressful. It was Panagbenga Festival so there was really an overwhelming crowd. We couldn’t even find a good space to park the van. So after the Panagbenga and after failing to reserve a slot in 50’s Diner, we headed to Wright Park. We were asked to find a restaurant or an eatery nearby and have a quick lunch.
P2283959TWright Park is located at the eastern part of the city which features are a shallow elongated rectangular body of water known as the “Pool of Pines” and the park circle which is on one end of the park. One part of the park is merely devoted to horse rides! P2283958TTake note, it doesn’t just feature a single horse but an overwhelming amount of them. It is the largest gathering of horses I have ever witnessed haha. P2283967TFor Php150 you can ride the horse for half an hour (with guide). You can also take a quick ride for photo opportunity for Php50. P2283974TP2283973TP2283972TP2283971TI didn’t tried the Horseback riding nor the Picture taking though. Don’t get me wrong but I think some of the horses here are being exploited. I saw one that is coated in pink which I don’t think really healthy at all. P2283978TAnyway, i believed these horses are being cared well despite of the usual color of their fur which I am not really in favor of. P2283976TI wonder if there are horse racing events being held here in Baguio. It might be an interesting experience to witness that event live!P2283977TAnother interesting spot is a wide stairway made of stones that will take you to the park circle.P2283970TCan You spot the St Bernard Dog? I thought I can only see them in Mines View Park so since I spotted one here, why not rab the opportunity right?zzxzzscfsdfTadah! This huge dog has been working here since morning but I looked more stress than him LOL. For Php50, you can have more than 5 pictures taken from your camera or phone! If you use a Continuous shot, then you can have more!P2283975TGoing up!P2283981TThe Park CircleP2283982TP2284009TP2284011TP2284013TP2284010TFew more walks and you’ll reach the “Pool of Pines” which is also few walks away from the Mansion.P2284007TPine Trees everywhere P2284006TP2283985TThe pool of pines!P2283986TP2283992TP2283993TP2283991TP2283996TSunflowerP2284004T
P2283997TThe main gate of the Mansion!P2284003TThe Mansion was built in 1908 for U.S. governor-generals and was destroyed in 1945 during the battle for the liberation of the Philippines. The elaborate main gate of the Mansion is said to be a replica of that at Buckingham Palace in London. According to them, inside the Mansion is a mini museum housing memorabilia and works of art collected over its years of occupancy by the former presidents. It is not easily accessible though I have no idea how you can grant an access here. P2284001TP2283961TYou can also rent Igorot Costume here for Php20. P2283962TEffigies of headless Igorot for a perfect photo opportunity. P2283964TI think we spent an hour here before leaving and heading to our next destination which is the Mines View Park

I was there couple of years ago. I just didn’t like being in places where there are lots of people. Having said that, I spent my last few days in Baguio mostly staying in a hotel near Camp John Hay, on a balcony facing nothing but pine trees.

Last time we were there, my mom wanted to go horse back riding. She tried it alone for 30 minutes and had fun. I love the pine trees in Baguio. 🙂

Baguio used to be so far but now thanks to the highways, it is so much easier to get there. We went 3x last year and we enjoyed each time. I love wright park too! 🙂 But what I love most about Baguio is the food.

Baguio is my hometown and I really love the weather and the pine tree view around the city. The wright park and mansion area is really scenic. It’s also close to mines view and good shepherd convent.

It is always a pleasure reading your posts as it has so much picture glamour. The horses look more like ponies though, similar to what we have in our Indian hill stations

It looks like a very beautiful place, very colorful. I can’t believe they charge money to take a picture with a dog. I mean, it’s just a dog, haha

It’s been so long since I’ve been to Baguio. It’s been a little crowded there, but I’m hoping to return one of these days with my son 🙂 He’ll love it there.

Baguio is one of my favorite places in the Philippines. We enjoyed visiting Wright Park, I just wish we had more time then so we could’ve spent more time there. My son enjoyed horseback riding while I was very worried we might fall off! 🙂

    Hi,

Are pets allowed in Wright Park and Mines View? I heard they’re not allowed in Burnham Park, which is puzzling.
