Milzon 9th Birthday Part 1 : Preparation

Milzon turned 9 last September 4 and sorry guys for my late update and allow me guys to share you some photos of the recently held celebration and also some of our preparation. The birthday was held in school. It was simple yet it turned out great. Oh on top of that, I made my very first frosting which is absolutely a dream come true to me.

These pictures were taken the night before the Milzon’s birthday. We woke up around 3 am in the morning to start our preparation. My mom was in charge in Spaghetti and Shanghai rolls. My brother and I took care of the cupcakes.

Well, first of all, I am not a pastry expert and I don’t know how to bake a cupcake at all. So what I did is to buy a  pre-made ones and I will try my luck to create a frosting all by myself. Thanks God, Internet is such a useful tool and I managed to find some recipe on how to make a royal icing. So allow me to show you the outcome of my experiment.

We bought 40 pieces of cupcakes and we chose Yellow for the Icing. I’m not sure if I got the right consistency for the icing but since we’re in a hurry, I didn’t mix it that much. In addition to that, we do not have an electric mixer at home so I really have to beat the whites manually using a hand mixer.

And so, i was right, the consistency or the stiffness was not right enough to stay firm. Taste wise, it is indeed very satisfying. I will post the detailed procedure at my foodie blog ( mytopfiveonline.com). So what happened next after our preparation? I will share more about my brother’s 9th birthday in my next entry.
