Divine Mercy Parish in Biluso, Silang, Cavite
Being a pure Caviteño, a pilgrimage in Cavite every Lent season has become our family’s tradition. I have visited the majority of churches in Cavite (both Western and Southern routes). Traditionally, we try to visit 14 churches in Cavite and we often have the same list every year. However, last year was quite different as we changed our itinerary a bit and manage to visit a few new churches in our list. One of which is the majestic Divine Mercy Parish in Silang, Cavite.
Unlike the Our Lady of Candelaria Parish in Silang (one of the oldest churches in the country), Divine Mercy Parish in barangay Biluso, Silang is relatively new. Only few details are known about the church’s history. It was not clear whether the church started out as a small chapel. It was officially blessed on October 6, 2016, a day after the celebration of the Feast of Saint Faustina, the nun who inspired the Roman Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy and earned her the title of “Secretary of Divine Mercy”
The location of the church in Barangay Biluso was surprisingly huge and so as the church itself. One of its notable feature is the 30ft statue of the Divine Mercy which was installed a year after the parish was blessed.
With its serene atmosphere, beautiful landscape, and being far from the busy city, Divine Mercy Parish is truly an ideal place for weddings and retreats.
The huge statue of the Divine Mercy is mounted on top of a circular chapel of saints. Visitors are also allowed to enter the rooftop to get an up-close view of the statue.

In front of the church is another huge statue of Saint Faustina Kowalska.
Architecture-wise, the façade of the Divine Mercy Parish is rather simple. It comes with twin belfry and a large porch. It features a large niche with a stained-glass window with the image of the Divine Mercy. You can also spot two other stained-glass windows with images depicting the two Filipino Saints (San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod)

The church’s major retablo features a large painting of the Divine Mercy. Sitting in front of it is the tabernacle. The two side altars enshrines the images of Saint Faustina and Saint Pope John Paul II.

Outside the church, you’ll find huge statues depicting various saints and Marian images. This one is the image of the sleeping Joseph. There’s also an image of the Black Nazarene, Christ the King, the fourteen Station of the cross, and many more.
