Pinoy Candies and Snacks From 80s to 90s That Are Still Available Today

48. Push Pop Candy – If you are one of those “Yayamanin” kids haha Well, lucky you, you might have tasted this yummy and definitely unique kind of lollipop known as Push Pop. As what the term suggests, this lollipop takes the form of a long cylinder that retracts into a capped plastic tube, and must be “pushed” out for consumption. This candy can usually be seen either in 7-Eleven or Mini Stop convenient store.P5185303t

49. Pop Rocks – Well, I still don’t know if the original Pop Rocks are still available but you can find different candies that features the same popping effect like this Magic Dust. Pop Rocks is a carbonated candy with ingredients including sugar, lactose (milk sugar), corn syrup, and flavoring. It differs from typical hard candy in that it creates a fizzy reaction when it dissolves in one’s mouth.

50. Fake Cigarette Candies – Although the concept is not really ideal for kids, we can’t deny that we once enjoyed this fake cigar candies when we were kids and pretended that we are actually hitting cigarettes. These candies come up with packaging that are merely inspired from real Cigarette packaging but the brands are intentionally misspelled.

51. Frostee Ice Candy – Homemade Ice Candies is one of the iconic Pinoy refreshing treat but there is one brand who made a richly flavorful fruity ice candy known as Frostee. These factory-made treats are notable for their distinctive shape which you can confidently share with a friend. pppbjh

52. Nips – Pinoy’s counterpart of M&Ms. These little morsels of chocolate are covered in a hard candy coating that comes in a variety of colors. Opening a pack of Nips is like having a rainbow in your hand. Another product of the Jack ‘n Jill brand. Interestingly, the name of this candy actually comes from the anagram or reverse of “spin”, which describes the process of how these little milk chocolate dots are made. Today, NIPS come up with new flavors and packaging.

53. Ricoa’s Curly Tops – Flat Tops and Curly Tops were both created by the same company. Taste wise, they both tastes the same and the only difference is that Flat Tops  have flat top surface, while Curly Tops have curly ridges and a small swirl on the top. Curly Tops can only be bought in a box and cannot be retailed per piece like Flat Tops.

This is such an extensive list of candies and snacks. You made me feel nostalgia as I saw some of the candies and snacks that I used to eat with my childhood friends.

Anyway, as I came from Quezon City, I didn’t get to try the Jovi’s Nata De Coco. It looks so interesting to me. I may just look for it when I had the chance to visit Laguna. Meanwhile, the White Rabbit, we used to ate was the chewy type. I miss that kind with its edible paper wrapper.

<<>> As soon as I saw your title (of this post), I KNEW IT! CHOC-NUT!!!

Let me share this with you. When I lived in Boracay for five years, our dive shop was located on Lorenzo Resorts Main. It does not exist now, but during that time, one of my partners was the owner of the resort.

He once had a guest and while talking, somehow, the conversation went to candies. My partner then proudly said his favorite is Choc-Nut. The person he was talking to was even more proud – turns out he was the owner of the company that makes Choc-Nuts!

Haha! Crazy list. I felt it was like some sort of throwback. 🙂 I didn’t know some candies and snacks were still being sold today, except for Chocnut. I still love it and I actually have a pack right now waiting for me in the fridge. Haha! Thanks!

Interesting! I have never heard of any of these. But I’m sure I would love Choco-nut because I love chocolate peanut candies. Really I like any candy! We have our own nostalgic snacks in the US too–like Count Chocula cereal!

Ahh! Blast from the Past! The time when we didn’t care about eating all the ‘junk’ in the world. I remembered Choc-Nut and Stay Fresh. I still have some Choc-Nut every now and then, but it’s sad I can’t see Stay Fresh candies anymore.

I love choc-nut! Back then once I eat one I would find a hard time stop. I always have one on my bag and my mom would scold me because I have been eating a lot of it. The blockbuster milk chocolate does the same thing for me as well. I can finish a pack in one seat! lol…

I miss those white rabbit candies! I haven’t had those in a long time! I have encountered the hard version which is nothing like the ones with the wrapper. Curly Tops and Flat Tops are still a popular chocolate choice at home. I think my kids still eat Mik Mik even though they’re teens!
