Pinoy Candies and Snacks From 80s to 90s That Are Still Available Today
Today, I will have a very special post, something that I just came up with. It is a very nostalgic post that will surely bring out the inner kid in you. Honestly, I have been working for this post for weeks and and searched eagerly for these items from one store to another just to confirm if these items are still existing. Do you still remember the time you carry your bulky lunch box at school (along with that huge water jug since tumblers are not that popular that time)? Do you still remember the snacks that you and your friends used to enjoy?
1. King’s Choc-Nut – Before Hany arrived in the market, the kids from 90s used to enjoy the Peanut Milk Chocolate by Unisman – King’s Choc-nut. Interestingly, Choc-nut is still available on the market and in fact, many restaurants today are putting unique twists on their desserts by adding Choc-nut on their ingredients. What really make it more interesting is the fact that Choc-nut is no longer being manufactured by Unisman. It is now being manufactured by the same company that makes Hany! 
2. X.O Coffee Candy – While some enjoy the bitter-sweet taste of Kopiko Candy other find the X.O Coffee Candy more addictive. The X.O. Coffee Candy comes under the brand name of “Jack ‘n Jill” for the candy division of the Universal Robina Corporation. X.O Candy is also known for their numerous hilarious commercials released in early 2000s.
3. Jovi’s Nata De Coco – I’m pretty sure you still remember this classic pinoy treat! Jovi’s Nata De Coco is a flavored juice drink blend with real chunks of Nata de Coco and is notable for their rich citrus flavor. Jovi’s Nata De Coco now offers wide range of products including ice candies and more but the packaging and the amount of nata seemingly diminished.
4. Blockbuster Milk Chocolate – I still remember that my One Peso is good enough to buy four pieces of these mini gold covered milk chocolate bars from Block Buster. It is registered under the brand name “Mayfair” and is manufactured by Twin Oaks Food Corporation. I’m glad that this item is still available at a very affordable price!
5. Super Candies’ Stay Fresh Menthol Candies – Need an instant mouth freshener? No Worries because we still have Stay Fresh. This menthol candy is undeniably one of the most popular childhood favorite candies. I still remember playing with these small green balls of mint flavor candy. I still remember trying to make it float by gently whistling it out from my lips. Stay Fresh is still available today and is still being manufactured by Super Candy Corporation.
This is such an extensive list of candies and snacks. You made me feel nostalgia as I saw some of the candies and snacks that I used to eat with my childhood friends.
Anyway, as I came from Quezon City, I didn’t get to try the Jovi’s Nata De Coco. It looks so interesting to me. I may just look for it when I had the chance to visit Laguna. Meanwhile, the White Rabbit, we used to ate was the chewy type. I miss that kind with its edible paper wrapper.

Let me share this with you. When I lived in Boracay for five years, our dive shop was located on Lorenzo Resorts Main. It does not exist now, but during that time, one of my partners was the owner of the resort.
He once had a guest and while talking, somehow, the conversation went to candies. My partner then proudly said his favorite is Choc-Nut. The person he was talking to was even more proud – turns out he was the owner of the company that makes Choc-Nuts!
Haha! Crazy list. I felt it was like some sort of throwback. 🙂 I didn’t know some candies and snacks were still being sold today, except for Chocnut. I still love it and I actually have a pack right now waiting for me in the fridge. Haha! Thanks!
I want to grab all of these. I am a candy lover. I don’t eat as much but i still eat a lot of them. I haven’t tried a couple of them, and will love to. Going to buy now. haha!
Interesting! I have never heard of any of these. But I’m sure I would love Choco-nut because I love chocolate peanut candies. Really I like any candy! We have our own nostalgic snacks in the US too–like Count Chocula cereal!
I wonder if there are still shops or stores selling them today. Totally reminds me of my grade school days.. snacking on these candies! This made me smile.
There are brands here that are also available during the 70s. It brings back memory pare. There are other candy brands back then that I missed, mabibili mo na lang pag imported like “sugus” and “tootsirole(?)”

Ahh! Blast from the Past! The time when we didn’t care about eating all the ‘junk’ in the world. I remembered Choc-Nut and Stay Fresh. I still have some Choc-Nut every now and then, but it’s sad I can’t see Stay Fresh candies anymore.

I love choc-nut! Back then once I eat one I would find a hard time stop. I always have one on my bag and my mom would scold me because I have been eating a lot of it. The blockbuster milk chocolate does the same thing for me as well. I can finish a pack in one seat! lol…
as you said, it’s nostalgic. Mostly are in the 90’s. used to it Marie biscuits (but they say it’s for babies). Ovaltine, chocnut, sweet corn. Oohh. Makes me want to buy them again! And you found that nata de coco? Yay! It’s a to go drink kids love before – just like me. Hihi. Thank you for reminding us about this. now, I really need to know where are these being sold.

I miss those white rabbit candies! I haven’t had those in a long time! I have encountered the hard version which is nothing like the ones with the wrapper. Curly Tops and Flat Tops are still a popular chocolate choice at home. I think my kids still eat Mik Mik even though they’re teens!

OMG! Stay fresh! I have one funny sotry about that. I ate the whole pack and put it all on my mouth. Then I think my cousin joked around and made me laugh so hard that I blew all the candies out. Hahaha!

Ano yung chichirya na nilalagyan ng suka?? Included yung suka na nakalagay sa separate packaging tapos ihahalo mo sya sa chichirya? Gusto ko malaman ano ulit pangalan non haha ang dami ko ng nakalimutan na pangalan ng chichirya dito sa list na to na naalala ko ulit. Nostalgic sobra. Salamat at nabasa ko to 😀

I think you forgot the vicks candy that comes in a 2 pc. candy in each wrap,more like shaped like a triangle,anyway you made me smile while reading your article.
