Soledad Exhibit 2021 : A Virtual Tour

In line with the celebrations for the upcoming Fiesta of Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga, San Roque Parish Church (the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga) officially launches an exhibit dedicated to the patroness of Cavite.  Our Lady of Porta Vaga is not just the patroness of Cavite City but of all the provinces in Cavite, hence the title “Reina De Cavite” (Queen of Cavite).

It is one of the well known Marian devotions in the country. The image is also considered as the oldest extant dated Marian painting in the Philippines and is recently declared as a National Cultural treasure. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, all the traditional festivities including the colorful parades, caracol, and grand procession were cancelled. However, there will be concelebrated masses for both first and second fiesta. In addition to that, an exhibit dedicated to the miraculous image will run for three weeks and will be opened publicly.

Soledad Exhibit 2021 comes with a theme ” Inang Soledad: Ina ng Pag-asa: Huwaran ng Pagmamalasakit at Pagdamay sa Kapwa“.

It is interesting to note that Soledad Exhibit is a “Traveling Exhibit” organized by the Cofradia dela Virgen dela Soledad de Porta Vaga. The exhibit aims to introduce the different images of Soledad to different towns of Cavite and other provinces in the country and also to spread the growing devotion to the miraculous image. The exhibit is originally done as part of Lent celebration and was last held in Tanza, Cavite in 2017.

In celebration of her Feast day, the exhibit is finally back in her shrine after five long years (the last Soledad exhibit in the city was in 2016 – Luz de Filipinas).

The exhibit will showcase a huge collection of Soledad images as well as items and memorabilia that are associated to Our Lady of Porta Vaga. It is officially opened on November 3 and is scheduled to run till November 21. The exhibit is open from 8am to 6pm at the upper floor of the church. It is also worth noting that the exhibit will gather all the venerated Soledad images in the country for the very first time.
